Sample itinerary

  1. Early morning
    Coffee on the deck

The waves start the day. Carmet Beach is a two minute walk down, best at low tide and quiet before anyone else is out

  2. Mid morning

An open bluff walk on Bodega Head. Wildflowers in spring, whales offshore much of the year

  3. Lunch

Chowder and a Dungeness crab sandwich at the picnic tables across from the marina

  4. Early afternoon

A short stop at the roadside memorial, then a look at what is on the calendar at the Bodega Bay Community Center

  5. Afternoon

Calm water at the tip of the head, sheltered from the wind, easy for a slow hour on the sand

  6. Optional day trip

Forty five minutes inland for old-growth redwoods and the Redwood Forest Theater, then lunch or a river beach in Guerneville

  7. Sunset
    Back to the house

Hot tub, the Pacific going gold, dinner in the kitchen, stars overhead
